Abstract submission

To submit an abstract, you must be registered for the workshop. Once you have registered, you may submit an abstract online. Here are instructions for submitting your abstract for oral or poster presentation. The deadline for abstract submission is July 31, 2008.

Presentations

Talks

The format for most presentations will be computer-based (in most instances PowerPoint). If you should need anything else (35 mm slides, overheads, blackboard, etc.), please let us know well ahead of time. We will have Macintosh and PC computers available to upload your talk before the presentation. You will not be able to use your own computer. Bring your presentation either on a CD or a flash drive. Please bring 2 copies and hand carry one with you on the airplane.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific committee. Decisions on acceptance will be made by August 15, 2008.

Posters

Each presenter will have one board available [3ft (90 cm) wide x 4 ft (120 cm) high]. The posters will be mounted on 4 sided "kiosks" with foam board sides, i.e. 4-sided towers with room for 4 posters, one on each side. The posters can be attached during lunch break on the respective assigned day. We will provide pushpins to affix your posters to the boards. Please use large fonts so that your poster can be read from a distance.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific committee. Decisions on acceptance will be made by August 15, 2008.

Proceedings

Papers corresponding to the presentations (oral or poster) at the meeting will be published in the conference book which will be produced after the conference by the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. Wiley-Blackwell will handle the copyediting and production of the book, and they charge $1000.00 per page for color images. Color reproduction in the online edition is free, however, and many authors therefore opt to have their figures reproduced in black and white in print with a reference to the online color in the legend. Because the Annals are available in 5,000 academic and research libraries, most readers will have easy access to the material online.

The manuscripts should be submitted at the meeting (on a CD as described in the instructions).
